Our health programs

Tobwabba Aboriginal Medical Service runs a range of health promotion programs for youth, elders, women and men in our community.

Elders Exercise Group

This program is provided for female and male Elders in our community. Tobwabba provides transport for all participants and lunch.

Tobwabba Fit Mob Exercise

Participants in the Tobwabba Fit Mob Exercise group follow a basic cardiac rehab inspired exercise program. All participants have their blood pressure and blood glucose levels taken weekly and recorded in fitness diaries. This group includes both female and male participants.

Group facilitators: Aboriginal Health Workers

 

Sista’s & Brothers Lifestyle Program

This is a basic exercise and healthy eatying program, which runs for 6-8 weeks for both male and female participants.

Group facilitators: Tobwabba staff, Great Lakes YMCA

 

Many Rivers Family Violence and Legal Services

Many Rviers Family Violence Legal Service are based in Kempsey and provide this service in Tobwabba on a monthly basis. Appointments must be made for this Legal Aid service.

Youth health programs

Koori Boys Group

A health promotion program for young boys. Participants take part in cultural and physical activities, including dance workshops.

Partnered with Great Lakes College, Forster Campus and Home Base Services

Breakfast Club

A program to encourage healthy eating choices amongst school aged kids (10-18 years, school attendance is mandatory). Our menu is designed by dietitians, and runs from Tuesday to Friday.
